My only misgiving is that his eldest sister is not on FreeBMD at all, probably because she was born in Scotland, so he might also have been born there.
Curiously the LSD’s FamilySearch site for the 1881 census does not include Scotland, though this is on the CDROMs (which I suppose I ought to get out and examine more closely!).
