Notes for Margaret Trotter
There is an unsigned document going round the auction rooms of the British Isles, to accompany a silver toilet set:

“  Jesmond
   Liss
   Hampshire

“25th May, 1952.

“This Silver Dressing Table Set, originally belonging to Great, Great Aunt Margaret, was given to Mary Inglis on the occasion of her marriage with David Nigel Charteris by his sisters, Margaret Olive Murray and Anne Louisa Bonham-Carter.

“This set has an interesting history, which was told to Peggy and Anne by their Aunt Clare Drury-Lowe.  Her Mother, Lady Louise Charteris, had, in turn, been told the story by her Mother, Lady Albermarle, who was David’s Grandmother.

“Great, Great Aunt Margaret was the daughter of Sir Coutts Trotter and a sister of Lady Albermarle.  She was given the set by a French Doctor, who had it specially made for her with her initials M.C.T. engraved on it, and by whom she had an illegitimate son.  This son was secretly adopted by the Beaumonts and, afterwards, became well known as Admiral Sir Harry Beaumont.

“No-one but Lady Albermarle and Mrs Beaumont knew the story as Margaret and Mrs Beaumont retired to Scotland until after the birth of Harry, who was always accepted as the son of Mrs Beaumont.”

No evidence has been found to corrobrate this.  Nor has eny public information emerged about Margaret;s birth or death.
