Notes for Rear-Adml William Abdy Fellowes-Gordon
He was born plain Fellowes but got a RL in 1876 to change his name to Fellowes-Gordon; this was occasioned by his wife, Hannah being the sole heir of Harry Gordon of Knockespoch.
Geo Hamilton in his “The House of Hamilton” says the father of Blanche was Rear-Admiral Sir Thomas Fellowes Gordon, Kt, CB. By 2001, the Scottish LG clearly had her father to be William Abdy so I am taking it this was more of Geo Hamilton’s confusion. It was not corrected in his Corrigenda. I suspect the Irish stuff to be a later addition done by hasty copying from Burke and not by his painstaking earlier research.
