FreeBMD says he died in 1895 aged 75. So he was born in 1820 and was about 25 at marriage in 1845 and only a Lieut - this marriage seems a little young for army permissions of those times, chaps usually had to be at least a capt before they got permission from their commanding officer; he became capt in 1849.
