His wife was a daughter of Herbert, a chamberlain of Scotland to both David I and Malcolm IV.
On s.g.m, M A-R has said, 20 Oct 2006, that Herbert the Scots Chamberlain was the son, probably the second son of Herbert the English Chamberlain, the elder son being St William, Archbishop of York. Therefore Herebrt the Scots chamberlain was the one who married Henry I’s cast-off, Sybil Corbet. I have yet to find the evidence for these intriguing connections.
