Of Hopetoun, Niddry and Abercorn, all in Linlithgows.
He built Hopetoun House, said to be worth a good visit.
A male line descendant of his second son, at least six generations later, married a granddaughter of Henry Philip Powys’ second marriage and they have issue. Currently this all seems very remote and the line from this man to these Powys descendants has not been entered. But it could be. See Burke’s peerage, 107th edition, pub 2003, vol2, pp.2353-4.
