SP does not say which of Ninian Ross’s four wives was her mother. But a few hints indicate that it might have been his third wife Elizabeth Stewart. First her dispensation for marriage was in 1538, though the marriage was not until 1543; this suggests a very eearly contract such that Christian might only have been 12 in 1543 when ths married. This indicates a birth date of around 1531, or earlier. Second SP states that Ninian married the countess of Erroll, Elizabeth Ruthven, on 5 Dec 1523 and CP states that she died bef 9 Dec 1529. Thirdly SP states that Ninian m. his third wife, Elizabeth Stewart, on 9 Dec 1529. So my guess is that Christian’s mother was Elizabeth Stewart.
