Notes for Roger de Chesney
Keats-Rohan in DP says that any relationship, as suggested by Salter from the Eynsham Cartulary I, pp. 441ff and as followed by A L Salzman in Ssx Arch Coll, LXV 29., is untenable and that is was very likely that Roger originated directly from Quesnay-Guesnon, Calvados, cant. Caumont-l’Evente. On the basis that this later research has more documents to peruse, I will bow down to this judgement.
ODNB syas that they probably also had a daughter Agnes who probably married a Robert Foliot and definitely had a son Gilbert, d. 1187, who was bishop of London and from whose ODNB article this comes. As such Robert Foliot, d. 1173, was also a son of Agnes de Chesney.
