Named by Matthew Paris as a supporter of the 25 Magna Carta Sureties.

K L Salzman describes him as the first of his branch of the Aguillons and has no firm evidence on his parentage.  However he says there is a slender clue that he may have been the son of Richard who was son of Manasser.  See the note for William’s son, Robert.
