Notes for Henry Dayrell
Stewart Johnson very kindly passed this on to me on 25th March 2006:

"Henry, son of Ralph and husband of Alice, held Hanworth in 1284; it
had been in the Dayrel family since 1172 (The Borstall Cartulary pp 313-314,
H E Salter, Oxford, Clarendon Press; 1930). Henry died in possession of
Hanworth in 1303 [Inq. a.q d. 2 Edw II no 98; Chan Inq p.m 31 Edw I no 26;
Feet of Fines London and Middx. 22 Edw I, no 208] and the manor was settled
on his wife Alice for the duration of her life [Feud Aids, 111, 372; Alice
was still alive in 1316]. Henry and Alice had a son, Henry, who was aged 16
[Chan Inq p.m 31 Edw I no 26] when his father died, and on 10 Mar 1303
(Pat.R.), John de Foxle paid 10 marks to the Escheator for the marriage of
Henry, son of the above Henry Dayrel".

The following manuscript, with the National Archives says it all:
"Henry son of Henry Dayrel to grant messuages, land and rents in Saunderton
and the advowson of the church there to John de Foxle, Constance his wife,
and the heirs of John, retaining the reversion of land in Hanworth
(Middlesex) now held by Alice his mother". C 143/74/8; 1308/1309.
