This is an enquiry I made about Alice's father. No response as yet... I have set her to be the dau. of Thos Lucy and Alice Hugford; this could be wrong, of course.

Subject: Who was Sir Thomas Lucy of Charlcote?
Newsgroups: soc.genealogy.medieval
In Ormerod's History of Cheshire, Vol III p. 230, there is this
pedigree of some Hattons of Hatton near Daresbury, Cheshire:
(Please set your mail readers to a fixed font such as Courier.)
Sir Thomas Lucy
of Charlcote
|
Piers Hatton William de Holdenby = Alice Lucy
|______________ _____________|
| |
Henry Hatton = Elizabeth Holdenby, d & h
d. 1511 |
|
John Hatton
|
William Hatton
d. 1546
|
V
The problem I cannot solve is which is this Sir Thomas Lucy of
Charlcote. I notice that Leo van de Pas' Genealogica site has the same
information, from Paget's Ancestry of Prince Charles, and does not
identify Sir Thos Lucy either.
From Alice Fairfax-Lucy's Charlcote and the Lucys, pp. 317-8, there are
these Lucys:
Thomas = Alice Hugford
d. 1415 |
___|
|
William = Alianore Grey
d. 1466 |
___|
|
William = (1) Margaret Brecknock
d. 1492 | (2) Alice Hanbury
___|
|
Edmund = (2) Jean Ludlow
d. 1495 |
___|
|
Thomas = Elizabeth Catesby
d. 1525
The last of these is too late to be Alice's father, and the first looks
a little early but is plausible. However it is possible that Ormerod
got the wrong Lucy and it was in fact a William of Charlcote.
I can't find anything relevant in A2A.
