Notes for Sir Hugh de Eland
In C T Clay’s “Early Yorkshire Families”, pp. 24-5, he says that the Elands were found in some charters of around 1190.
The Yorks 1612 vis’n, p. 514, gives him a father, Sir John Eland. Foster’s additional pedigrees in the same volume gives four generations of ancestors, including this John.
