Notes for Henry de Savile
Baildon thinks he probably had two wives, the first was the heiress of Golcar and by whom they had a sole daughter Avice.  Avice had no surviving children.  Henry married again to an unknown wife and had sons who inherited Avice's Golcar property which she had received from her mother.

Subsequently Baildon changed this view to that Avice had a son who did inherit her mother's property and then had male line issue for many generations until a Pincerna heiress in a de la Haye of Spaldington (Lincs?).  But how the Golcar property was lost to this Avice's line I cannoot see..  The article on this is in the Yorkshire Archaeological Journal, vol. 29, pp. 68-89 (1929).

There was also a Ralph Saville around at the same time as Henry.  But he soon disappeared, probably died, though Baildon is fo the ioinion htta he was highly likely to have been henry's brother.  But nothing has been found about the father of either of them nor of where they came from; the latter is suspected to be France but no evidence is available.
