1Sir John Thornhill [56, York of 1563-4, pub 1881 by Harleian, Thornhill, p. 318], [238, “Family of Thornhill” by C T Clay, Vol 29, 1929, pp. 300-3], [100, John Ravilous, "Thornhill of Thornhill", 20 Sep 2004]
Notes for Beatrice
Jan 2006, TFPL: Clay shows that Beatrice survived her husband and was still alive in 1327-9 (p. 304). He gives evidence that she and Richard had Brian, Cecily and Richard. Clay also reports that a dual seal was appended to a document of Beatrice’s dower giving the arms of Thornhill, a chier and two bars gemelles with a sinister shield of a fess between three fleurs-de-lys for Beatrice; there is no evidence to say where Beatrice’s arms came from and certainly none for Foster’s suggestion in “Yorkshire Pedigrees” that she was the dau. of Sir William Tarboner.
