Notes for James Hamilton
"House of Hamilton" reports he is said to have marred Elizabeth, dau. of Campbell of Glaisters and niece of the Sheriff of Ayr.
Possibly his wife was Christine, dau. of Sir John Stewart of Minto and of Janet Fleming. However SP Stewarts of Blantyre article, Vol II p. 78, does not show the latter couple as having a daughter Christine though there is a dau. Janet who is referred to a "elder dau." in a writ that survived.
Possibly his father was James, 3rd of Torrence and his mother was Agnes Broun, lady of Malcolmstoun.
