GeneralSheriff of Warks, 1588-9, and of Rutland, 3 times.
Notes for Sir William Fielding
His name is spelt "Fielding" in the visitation where he was first found, but CP universally spells his known descendants with "Feilding" and certainly this latter practice was continued into the 19th cent. with the exemplification of the grant of arms to Henry Wentworth Powys, born Feilding.
Armorial Blazon notes for Sir William Fielding
In the transcription of the 1619 Visitation the arms were quarterly:
1. Argent on a fess Azure three lozenges Or (Fielding [sic],
2, Gules, a bend Argent between six martlets or (Seaton),
3. Ermine, on a fess Vert three escallops Or (Knapton),
4. Gules, a Saltair vair (Willington).
The crest: A nuthatch proper
The editor of this visitation commesnts that none of the drawings in the College of Arms have any resemblance to the real bird.
