Ancestry.com has produced a copy of their marriage entry in the parish register and the transcript, by me, is:
“Marriages solemnized in the Parish of Wimbledon in the County of Surrey in the year 1829
“. . . .
“Alexander Atherton Park of this Parish Bachelor and Mary Frances Brown Spinster of this Parish were married in this Church by Licence with Consent of [blank] this twenty first day of July in the Year One thousand eight hundred and twenty nine By me Henry Brown Offg Minister
This Marriage was solemnized between us [signed]
Alexander Atherton Park Mary Frances Brown
In the Presence of [Signed] J A Park William Brown William Robinson Robert Mayne”
Her father did not sign: he had died three mnths earlier. But two of her brotheres signed: Henry who conducted the ceremony and William her eldest brother and who probably gave her away.
I wonder who the Robert Mayne was who was the last witness? Frances’ paternal grandmother was a Mayne and Robert might have been a member of that family and thus a relation.
