Sanders, Baronies, p. 130, did not see this Robert de hastings as a son of William filius Robert de Hastings; instead he saw him as the husband of Isabel the heiress of RWilliam filius Robert.  I am going with Keats-Rohan’s account as she knew Sanders’ work and had the advantage of access to more charters.
