Notes for Richard (I) Engaine
Keats-Rohan in Domesday People, pp. 366-7, gives an alternative account of Richard’s descendants, rejecting that of CP, Vol V, pp. 72/3. It is her account that I am following.
Keats-Rohan also states that Richard married more than once and had at least two daughters and to whose husbands he had given land. One of these husbands may have been Hugh de Auco (Eu), alive in 1129-30.
And in DP 492, William Englanie is listed as a brother of Richard and oriignally held the Pytchley fee for which Richard was his heir.
Finally (!) K-RE (DD 966) says that one of his widows m. Richard fitz Urse by 1100.
