Notes for William Conyers Lord Conyers
m. (1) Mary Scrope, (2) Anne Neville.
The Yorks Visitations of 1563-4 and 1584-5 show Anne Neville as the mother of his children. But CP indicates fairly clearly that Mary Scrope was the mother at least of Christopher, the heir; the indication is that when the heir is of the second marriage, they usually state this - but they did not so it is presumed that he was of the first marriage.
Anyhow, in the Yorks visitation he had two daus and one s., the 2nd ld Conyers and were the ancestors of the Conyers who became earls of Holderness.
Bailiff of the Liberty of Richmond and Constable of Richmond castle.
He built Hornby castle, Yorks.
The oxford DNB in the Conyers Family article says that William was heir to two half-baronies, Falconberg and Darcy. Both his half-baronies were from younger daughters, and the other half-baronies, from elder daughters, were inherited by a Strangways who did not get a peerage.
