Notes for Adam de Reresby
The pedigree in the 1584-5 visitation of York gives him a wife named Trethegna and says Sir Adam was lord of Thriberg and Eshouere in 9 ED II (c. 1316). It also gives him this ancestry:
Serlo de Plesley, living temp K. John
|
Anabilla, yst dau. = John de Wllencourt
|
Amicia, 1st dau. = Isidore Reresby of Reresby, son of Alexander . of R.
|
Ralph Reresby = Margery dau. & hr. of Ralph Normanville of Thriberg
|
Sir Adam Reresby, the subject of this record.
Apparently Ralph Reresby obtained the manor of Eshouer by exchange for that of Plesley with Sir Robert de Willoughby.
What credence may be given to the above I do not know; however Foster (the editor of this visitation) includes a few quotations apparently from charters describing some of the details above.
The visitation also includes a son Ralph whose issue survivied through at least to the time of the visitation, the record fo which was apparently signed by Thomas Reresbie aged 23 in 1584.
