It looks very likely that he was the Sir Davy Owen (Sussex) who was a knight bachelor in the king’s retinue at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520.

David is almost certainly the Davy Owen who was knighted when he landed in the party of the earl of Richmond, later Henry VII and his half brother, when they arrived at Milford Haven in 1485. See Shaw's Knights, Vol II, p. 22.
