He probably married the heiress of Trevinor.
His father appears to have been Mark Borlas and his grandfather to have been Andrew who died c. 1414. Mark married an Alice (Moyle?) and was MP for Helston, Cornwall. Andrew appears to have been the grandson of John Frank Tallifer, and he or his father had changed his name from Tallifer to Borlase. The Tallifers claimed some descent from the family of the early counts of Angouleme.
Andrew's father was Noel Borlas, a younger son of John Frank Taillefer and who was born about 1320 and married Agnes duagher of ? and Desiderate de Trevysek.
