Notes for Sir Thomas Andrew
m. (1) Katherine Cave, (2) Mary Heneage.  This is the final version from the 1612-18 visitation.  My earlier musings are left in for interest.

Did he by any chance marry Mary Heneage, dau. of John Heneage, who was son of John Heneage and Katherine Wymbish (14th gt-g-parents)? See Lincolns peds, pub Harleian 1903, Heneage, p. 483.

TFPL, Oct 2005: By the looks of his will where a Heneage was involved in the dower or settlement for his wife Mary, the answer sounds very much YES!

TFPL, April 2007: Found the Northants 1564 Visitation and he and his forbears are on page 1 for 1564 and pp. 62-5 for the 1618-19 Visitations.  And it confirms that he m. Mary Heneage, though does not include their dau. Hmm, possibly because she was born after the visitation in 1564 and before, or a reasonable interval after, his death c. 1568.

The 1564 visitation gives his first wife as Katherine (d. 18 Aug 1555), da. and heir of Edward Cave, which Edward was eldest brother of Sir Thomas Cave.  Their children were:
Thomas Andrew, 1st s. and hr, who m. Frances, dau. of Sir John Cotton of Landswade, Cambs.
Roger, 2nd s. m. Magdalen Box of London, w/issue
Edward, 3rd s.
John, 4th s., dsp,
Ann - might she be the dau. who m. Valentine Pigot?  Yes, from the 1618-19 Vis’n.
Audrey (or Ursula).

The 1618-19 vis’n adds to Katherine Cave’s children: Dorothy, Thomas and Ursula but I wonder if any of these were Mary Heneage’s?

Thomas Andrew and Mary Heneage had, by 1564:
Thomas of Longdon m, Jane Casey of Whitfield, w/issue.
Symond,
Richard,
Mary,
Katherine.

The 1618-19 visitation clears it up: the mother of Anne Andrew was Katherine Cave.

As at April 2007, I had no information on Thomas Andrew’s forbears.  This 1564 Visitation gives three former generations of Andrew at Charwelton, so it is highly likely that the names would be known from the deeds that they would have held, so I am adding them in to this database.  Before that the Visitation gives two further generations of Andrews at Sawbridge, Warks for which they would probably have had no documents and thus these two will not be entered.

The 1618-19 Visitation, in the same book, introduces six more earlier generations but it is doubtful that these were on the original manuscript and, indeed, the editor says they came from Harleian MS 1184.  This record also includes more detail than the 1564 visitation for later generations, some of which I will add.

Robert O’Connor reports that he was sheriff of Northants and thus presided over the execution of Mary Queen of Scots.
