Notes for Margaret de Brus
Their son Robert became 1st lord Ros of Wark in 1295 but dspm soon after.
Apparently she inherited Kendal Castle from her mother. This she gave to her son William whose grandson had a sole heir who m. Sir William Parr, thus transferring Kendall to the Parrs.
CP XI 121 incl note (c) says:
1. Robert, 1st s., later rebelled against the king and lost all his assets (and his peerage) for treason.
2. Margaret divided her lands between William and her nephew, by her sister Lucy, Marmaduke de Thweng.
3. William founded the family of Ros of Kendal.
Interestingly Stirnet cannot give details for this descent from Margaret though has a few blanks down to William Parr (d. 1405).
Michael Miller has found an IPM of 1390 for the last Thomas Ros, whose heir was his granddaughter Elizabeth who m. William Parr. Elizabeth’s father was John Ros who presumably dvp his father, Thomas.
