HOP says he or his family originated from Cheshire and that he had two elder brothers, Nicholas (dsp. 1421) and Sir Laurence; their father may have been Sir Thomas Merbury. There is no mention of any Memburys in Ormerod’s History of Cheshire.
HOP does not say that he was a knight nor in fact does CP, so I’ve deleted that but.
