Notes for Sir William Knyvett
Note that in his will he calls himself "esquire" and does not call himself "knight" whereas Faris does call him a knight.
Nicolas says he was grandson of Sir William Knevit and Elizabeth Clifton heir to Constantine 2nd baron Clifton.
He had two further wives: (2) Joanna Stafford and (3) Joan Courtenay. See Faris.
TFPL, July 2006: The Yorks 1564 visitation says in a note that he and Joanna had issue Edward Charles, Joan, Anne and Elizabeth. Of these it is said that Charles had a dau. Elizabeth who m. Richard FitzWilliam of Ringsted.
Will notes for Sir William Knyvett
In his will, dated 18th September 1514, he lists:
His son [and apparently heir] Edward Knevit,
Charles Knevit his son,
Ann the wife of his son Charles,
Elizabeth his daughter,
Ann his daughter, wife of Charles Clyfford,
Constantine Clifton of whom he was the heir,
Sir Thomas Knevit his grandson,
Eleanor late wife of his son [which?] and mother of Sir Thomas Knevit.
