In the 1881 census he was living with his parents at Neachley Hall, Donington, Salop ; he was 18, born at Rainhill, Lancs and an undergraduate..
In the 1901 census he was living (visiting?) with his father in law at The Rectory, Hockerton, Notts, aged 38 and a Colonial merchant, born in Rain Hill, Lancs.
He and Mary had a second son Teddy (Edward?) whom I met on one or two occasions but of whom I have yet to find any records. He is in 1911 census.
In the censuses he reported his birth as in Rain Hill, Lancs. In FreeBMD there were several George Briscoes born around that time and area. However only one was born in the district of Prescot which includes township of Rainhill - thanks to FreeBMB for all this detail carried on their site.
