Notes for Hugh (III) de Gournay
There is some unclarity about this Hugh III.

K-R says he was the son of Hugh II and Beatrice of Vermandois.  Others say that he was a late son of Hugh II's second marriage to a Milisent.  Other says that his generation did not exist and that his father died at a very late age.

About the only thing that is reasonably certain is that the Hugh that married Julia de Dammartin is the direct descendant of Gerard de Gournay, d. c. 1104 , and Edith de Warenne.  This Hugh is either the grandson or great-grandson of Gerard and Edith.

In the meantime I am showing the descent along the lines of the latest published research, that of Keats-Rohan in Domesday Descendants, though this is not totally clear.
