Notes for Sir Robert Hastang
Descendant of Eutrope Hastang who was living c. 1126.
Keats-Rohan asserts that Humfrid Hastang, a Domesday tenant, was ancestor of the Hastangs, DP, p. 275. Humfrid held Chebsey in Staffs, which has passed down to this Robert Hastang.
Humfrid probably m. Lescelina and had these sons:
Aitrop,
Humphrey,
Salomon the clerk.
Aitrop is in DD, p. 1005, d. c. 1166, was m. to Matilda and had a son Aitrop II who d. 1205. The DD article also lists a Henry de Hastang and a Robert de Hastenc without stating their relationship to Aitrop II.
CP in Note in Vol VI, p. 340 merely says that this Robert Hastang was the descendat of a Eutrope hastang who gave a charter c. 1126.
