Notes for William de Chesney
1157-8: Granted the feudal barony of Blythborough, Suffolk.
He took his mother's name.
CP X 197, note (a) says that it has long been held that two of his daughters were in fact by Aubrey de Vere, first earl of Oxford. CP X, Appx J, 117 however appears to report that they were in fact, William's daus and refers to J R Round, Genealogist NS, Vol XVIII, pp. 6 and 13 and to the Trans of the Essex Arc Soc, NS, Vol VIII, pp. 192-98 (Round was editor of the latter journal at one stage).

TFPL, Aug 2006: I have now found Rounds article (above). It includes that William in fact held around 27 knights fees though not all in chief.
