Notes for Walter de Clifford
Not totally sure which Clifford was his father, but this looks the best fit.
Moor clearly has him and says he was probably a knight. However Moor does not give even a rough date for his death, though indicates it might have been around 1284 and, much more problematical, says he was son and heir of anoher Walkter who died in 1264 having been present at King John’s funeral in Worcester in 1216.. However Sanders in his Baronies is quite categoric about the dates and some of the wives so I am leaving things as they are. (This clearly opens a question in my mind of how reliable Moor’s work is.)
