He was brother of Walter de Langeston, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.
His son and heir Edmund was heir to the bishop.

Aug 2006, TFPL: Michael Andrews-Reading found the new ODBN entry for Walter Langton which firmly asserts that his brother was Simon peverel whose son was sir Robert and which Robert had a son Edmund. Further MA-R revealed that VCH Northants asserts that Edmund had a son John Peverel and a dau. Margaret Peverel who m. William de la Pole. I am accepting this and revising the entries accordingly.
