On 8 June 1824, The Times reported that Charles James Blomfield had been appointed bishop of Chester.
On 28 Jan 1837, The Times published a letter from an anonymous cleric referring to many squabble in which CJB had been involved as bishop of London.
On 24 July 1856 The Times reported a long and exciting debate in Parliament on his terms for retirement. Gladstone spoke in this debate.
On 5 Dec 1856 The Times reported the enthronement of his successor.
