Both CP and the Houses of Parliament History record him as _John_ Cornwall. But Brad Verity says there was no John Cornwall of that period and that his name was Edmund. As yet I have not found any contemporary evidence either way.

TFPL, Oct 2005: Charles Evans in his 1962 article in NEHGR on Two Mortimer Notes, agrees with Brad Verity. So I am changing his name from John to Edmund. Evans’ reference was The Genealogist, vol 3, p. 227.
