She and Wm Comyn are said to have had another son David who m. Isable de Valoines snf which David and Isibel had a grandson William, d. 1283, who m. Euphemia.  William and Euphemia had a son Edmund who, with Maria had a duaghter Euphemia who Euphemia who m. a Wm de la Beche.  This is to be found, it is said, in Young’s “The Comyns 1212-1314”.

Oct 2007: John Ravilious reports that in The Ancestor vol X, p. 115, J H Round reported that Sarah dsp and that thus she was NOT William Comyn’s first wife.  Hohn goes on to speculate:

     One particular part of that passage holds a clue as to
the identity of the first wife of William Comyn, Earl of
Buchan (de jure uxoris), which wife is identified in error
as Sarah, daughter of Robert fitz Hugh [2].  Concerning
certain particular hostages, the record in Bain taken from
the Close Rolls states,

     ' ... it is to be observed that Alan de Galweya's
      daughter, who was in custody of Robert fitz Roger,
      is dead; and the son of William Cumin, who was
      in custody of Eustace de Vescy, is discharged.' [3]

     Given the other relationships identified (exactly or
nearly) from the Close Roll text provided by Bain, it is
fairly certain that this son of William Comyn was related
to Eustace de Vescy, and was the son of the first wife.
Marjory, Countess of Buchan, was married to William Comyn
ca. 1212: given the chronology [the likelihood is that the
eldest son of Marjory (presumably Alexander Comyn, later
Earl of Buchan) was either born ca. 1214, or was at best
less than 1 year old on 13 June 1213] and the unlikelihood
that Marjory's mother was a de Vescy relation, it seems
probable that Richard, Walter or another son of William
Comyn by his first wife is meant in this entry.

     While short of positive evidence at this point, I would
conjecture that William Comyn's first wife was a sister of
Eustace de Vescy, and therefore a daughter of William de
Vescy of Alnwick, Northumberland (d. 1183), presumably by
his known wife Burga de Stuteville.  The possibility exists
(remotely) that Eustace de Vescy was the father of this wife
of William Comyn, but it seems rather unlikely that he could
have fathered a daughter by his known wife Margaret
(illegitimate daughter of William _the Lion_, king of Scots)
who could have been the mother of the eldest brood of
William Comyn.

     Should anyone of the list have additional relevant
documentation, comment or criticism, I would be most
interested in hearing of it.

    ' William Cumin accounts for  25 marks and a
     palfrey for having to wife the younger daughter of

     the treasury 20 marks; and he owes 5 marks and a

     She is usually identified as Sarah, younger dau. and
     coheiress of Robert fitz Hugh:
     '  .... his 1st wife Sarah, yr. da. and coh. of Robert
     FitzHugh. ' [CP XI:143 note (e), cites Scots Peerage,
     vol. i, p. 505; Pipe Roll, 3 John, p. 183; 6 John, p.
     140].  J. H. Round has shown that Sarah died without
     issue [Round, Origin of the Comyns, in The Ancestor,
     X:115].  The name of William Comyn's first wife is
     in fact unknown.
