Notes for Hugh de Mortimer
At the Oct 2009 AGM of the FMG, Paul Remfry gave a talk on the early Mortimers and suggested that no evidence existed that this Hugh ever existed. He said the line was Ralph (1120-1100(, Hugh *by Matilda) 1120-1181 and then Ralph. There was no Hugh who died aroung 1150-54 as there was not records of such a death nor any scutage payment on the Mortimer barony around that time.
