Notes for Elizabeth Burley
m. (1) Sir John Hopton, (2) Sir Thos Trussell.
Her share of the manor of Munslow descended to the earls of Oxford and in 1552, John de Vere, earl, sold it to John Stringfellow who sold it to John Littleton, rector of Munslow.
She and Wm Trussell had a son William.
There is some further confusion about her in that in the Salop visitaiton an Elizabeth Burley is shown as the dau of John Burley, the wife of John Hopton and then the wife also of a _John_ Trussell. My view is that this is not the Elizabeth, dau of Wm Burley who m. _Thomas_ Trussell. The Shropshire visitation is confused, methinks as it also shows the latter Elizabeth to have a sister Joan who m. Thos Littleton.
