Notes for Sir John Sothill
m. (1) Agnes Ingleby, (2) N. N.
Notts vis'n says his father was Sir Gerard Suthill and his mother a dau of Sir Gerrard Salvyn.
Lincs says that his grandfather was Gerard, his father was another John; his wife is unknown.
Yorks 1584/5 says his father was John who m. an Ingleby, and his grandfather was also John who m. Joan heir to John Poucher and to Jane Everingham, heir to Adam Everingham. This is partically confirmed by Clay in EYC VI, Table opp p. 1 where there is a note on John Poucher that "a quo Sothill and Constable".

C T Clay in EYC VI, pedigree opp p. 1, says that he was the descendants of the Paynels of Drax via the Pouchers. Foster in his edition of Dugdale's Yorks Vis'n of 1584/5 agrees and shows such a line.
CP actually gives the descent in a table Vol V, p. 193.
