Notes for Charles Lowndes
He was the son of the William Lowndes who m. the gt-grand-dau of Thos Twysden, son of Roger Twysden and Anne Wyatt.
In the Lowndes pedigree in Lipscombe’s Bucks, he is shown as dying in 1783, aged 64, making him born c. 1719. This is 40 years after the birth of his eldest brother Robert and so a little unlikely. I think it is highly likely that he was a member of this Lowndes family but it is uncertain who his father was: it could have as easily been The Robert Lowndes who died in 1727 or, as I have left him the Wm who died in 1723 but being the son of a second, much younger wife. None of the Barrington descents showing his claims on them give any enlightenment on this matter. Perhaps there might be something in one of the Burkes Landed Gentries.
