Notes for Thomas Edward Twisden
Wierd: J R Twisden’s book has it that he died a bachelor, pp. 427 and 454. But I have now found an 1881 census record that clearly shows him with a wife Emily aged 53 who was born in Gibraltar, all of them living a St John’s Road, Redlands, Putney, Surrey. There is a possibility that Emily was a sister (Emily Henriette) or cousin and has been misdescribed by the census enumerator. There is no such marriage to be found on FreeBMD.
Their household was themselves, a visitor, a cook and a housemaid; no children.
He was a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, aged 62 and born in Halberton, Devon.

There are three Emily Twisdens who d. after 1882 on FreeBMD:
Of these three, only the age of the first fits in with the Emily on the 1881 census. She should be in the 1891 census...
