Notes for Rev Edward Robert Burroughes
Burke gives his name as ‘Edward George Burroughs’ but both FreeBMD and the 1881 census call him ‘Edward Robert’ and both give him and his family the surname of ‘Burroughes’. So I’ve changed it.
His birth index from the online GRO index:

In Q3 of 1908, FreeBMD has a marriage between Edward Burroughes and one of Sarah Alesbrook and Emily Alice Dyke. (My bet is on the latter.) The marriage was in Burton, Derbys, vol 6b, p. 645. This was the only marriage on FreeBMD of EB in the period 1881 to 1920, but at 46 he was rather old for a first marriage.
There is also on FindMyPast an index to Derbyshire marriages and this is indeed Edward Burroughes and Emily Alice Dyke.

He was in the electors lists for Stoke Holy Cross, Norfolk from 1900 to 1915, but no sign of any wife in the later electoral list, though many other women were included.

In 1911 he was found in the Census using Ancestry’s index. He was Single, NOT married at all, and still at Stoke Holy Cross Vicarage. He had 2 servants in the house, still.
