25 Feb 1896: “5th Battalion, the King's Royal Rifle Corps,  Horace James Powys-Keck, Gent., to be Second Lieutenant. Dated 26th February, 1896.”

18 Jan 1898: “5th Battalion, the King's Royal Rifle Corps, The undermentioned Second Lieutenants to be Lieutenants :— H. J. Powys-Keck. Dated 19lh January, 1898.”

10 Jul 1900: “Lieutenant H. J. Powys-Keck, 5th Battalion the King's Royal Rifle Corps, to be Aide-de-Camp to Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet Colonel Sir H. E. McCallum, K.C.M.G., Royal Engineers, Aide-de-Camp to the Queen, Governor and Commander-iin-Chief of Newfoundland. Dated 21st June, 1900.”
