Notes for Rev Boscawen Thomas George Henry Somerset
m. (1) (1863) Florence Smallwood Clarke who dsp in 1874, (2) Sophia Powys.
He was a grandson of the 5th duke of Beaufort and Burke has details of his descendants; he was 5th son of Rev Geo Henry who was himself 5th son of Henry Somerset, 5th duke. The Somersets are descended from a long line going back to John of Gaunt’s second son, the first duke of Dorset, though there was one illegitimate son in that line who had to get his honours regranted. See the 1st Marquess of Worcester on this database, d. 1646 and who is a direct ancestor of this Boscawen Somerset; said marquess was a second cousin of some ancestor of ours.
