There are 10 John Ansdell deaths on FreeBMD between 1837 and 1910 and I have no idea which might be he. It needs a search on a pre-1870 census to find the pair of them to see when he was alive.
His wife was a widow in the 1851 census so he must have died before that.

He was on an Electoral Rolls of 1844 for a freehold farm, Glasllyn Llanelly, Breconshire
And in 1845.
And in 1846.
And in 1848.
And in 1851
I suspect they just copied his name each year from the previous one but at least this is fairly clearly him what with the Burke, and my grandfather’s, references to the name of his property.
An oddity is that this list was for the polling station of Peterchurch in Herefordshire; perhaps this Welsh farm gave him voting rights and he actually lived in Peterchurch.
