Notes for Ribald Lord of Middleham
Keats-Rohan: See EYC, vol V, pp. 297-306 and Genealogist new series vol iii, p. 31.
Discovered from note on Ralph FitzRandolf from Swallow's "De Nova Villa" in his early Neville pedigree, where is was said, p. 398, that he brought the Brittany arms to the Nevilles; but he was a natural son of Eudon so this inheritance is rubbish!
Beatrice and his sons were: Ralph, Hervey, Rainald and William Taillebois.
CP confirms that Ribald was ancestor of the Nevilles and that his caput was Middleham; his service was 15 knights doing guard at Richmond castle. CP says see EYC, vol V, pp. 297-308.

TFPL, Jan 2012: I have long had Vol V so had a good look at it and found:
On p. 298, note 7 it says ‘Like Bodin and Bardolf, Ribald was doubtless an illegitimate son of count Eudo’.
p. 299: His wife was indeed Beatrice, dau. of Ives Taillbois and their sons were (1) Ralph, and also Hervey, Rainald and William.
