Might he be the Charles Christopher Carleton Baynes whom m. in Q3 of 1861 to either Anna Maria Grey or Jane Morgan at Cheltenham dist, vol 6a p. 650?
There are a couple of possible Anna Maria Baynes deaths:
Q4 of 1881, Marylebone dist, vol 1a, p. 382
Q4 of 1888, Hampstead dist, vol 1a, p. 459
There are load of Jane Baynes deaths.
So either could be the wife. Try the 1881 census.
But in 1881 he was described as single, indicating he had never been married.
