CP: Probably son and heir of Pons Pontius who was probably s. and h. of Simon fitz Poinz.
The Essex 1612 visitation for Poyntz, pp. 268-271, agrees remarkably with Sr Jno Maclean's account and says that Nicholas' father was Hugh, sonn and heir to Nicholas, son to Hugh.
