Deathabt 1185
General2nd s. Of Owthorne in Holderness with 3/4 of a fee plus some of a further 1/3.
Notes for Peter de Melsa
Peter comes from the Meux family history; however there is some doubt that his gt-gt-grandson was the ancestor of the Meux.
Nevertheless, Peter is fairly clearly in Keats-Rohan's Domesday Descendants and is referenced as such. But in DD his father is John of Melsa.

But Peter is not in Clay’s “The Family of Meux” save that there is a brother of John son of Gamel who is called Peter de Meaux, probably the ancestor of the family of Owthorne. Clay shows a Robert, d. bef. 1196, as the inheriting son of John de Meaux.
