Moor’s ‘Knts of Ed I’ has a Sir John le Breton who lived in Essex from 1261 to 1311, though his heir was Maud, dau. of John le B. junior and whow as wife of Richard de la Ryvere. (Bearing in mind the name Breton merely meant someone from Brittany, these people could be almost anyone.)
